CSIRO’s biotechnology research and development capability spans more than 600 projects across eleven Divisions and three Flagships, with annual investment of more than A$110 million.

CSIRO established its Biotechnology Strategy Group in 2001 to provide a facilitating and coordinating role across CSIRO, particularly on policy and marketing issues, in order to bridge strategic issues facing the internal and external biotechnology environment.
